GRETA Journal

Sections

GRETA Journal has several sections which appear regularly in all issues and are normally compiled by one of the journal’s contributors. They include the following:

EDITORIAL

Written by the editors, it opens each issue of the journal. It offers a summary of the diverse manuscripts published in the issue in question, anticipates information about upcoming ones, and informs of the latest news regarding the journal.

INTERVIEW

Many have been the internationally renowned and acclaimed figures interviewed in GRETA Journal, from Henry G. Widdowson, to H. Douglas Brown, J. Charles Alderson, or Jane Revell.

INTERNET SITE and NET IDEAS

Both these sections focus on new technologies applied to English language teaching. The first of them does so through articles on practical experiences involving computer assisted language learning; the second one provides a selection of useful websites with many resources to offer for language teaching.

REVIEWS

Recently published books of interest for the language teaching professional are reviewed in this section by experts in the topic.

CULTURE AND LITERATURE

This miscellaneous section centres upon the latest cultural and literary news in the English-speaking world, and suggests a variety of books for recommended reading.

A QUICK LOOK AT THE JOURNALS

It casts a glance at interesting articles published in other important English teaching journals, thereby establishing a link between GRETA Journal and other international magazines for English teachers and scholars.

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT OR THE ASSOCIATION

In earlier volumes, this section carried news from the Association and reports on the yearly GRETA Conference.

Remaining sections of GRETA Journal are open to submissions, under one of the following headings:

THEORY BEHIND THE PRACTICE

It comprises primarily theoretical articles on the rationale underlying practical techniques and experiences for the teaching of a foreign language.

CLASSROOM TECHNIQUES

This practical counterpart of the previous section provides tried-and-true methodological proposals which can be taken directly from the journal into the classroom.

IN THE ENGLISH CLASSROOM

IN THE PRIMARY CLASSROOM

IN THE SECONDARY CLASSROOM

AT UNIVERSITY

These next four sections are focused on practical recommendations or classroom experiences at all educational levels.

TEACHING ENGLISH FOR SPECIFIC PURPOSES

As its name implies, this heading reports on teaching-learning expreriences which are directly related to students’ specific needs in learning a foreign language, normally in line with professional or occupational purposes.

BILINGUAL EDUCATION

With this section, GRETA Journal aims to respond to the demands created by the increasing presence of bilingual schools and programmes in the Andalusian autonomous community as well as in the rest of the country.
